    getting ready
renee i always love your comments, that make me laugh, not at you but because i know exactly what you're talking about and feeling so rushed and freaked out sometimes just makes me sit back and laugh at the whole situation. steve, i'm definitely working on the space and weight limit. i don't think i will bring all the things i have listed or i'll have some of those things in certain boxes and have my paretns ship them to me when we're in-country. i have my daypack and i have my internal frame pack. the dayback will be my carry on and then my internal frame and some duffel bag of some sort will be my checked luggage and i think i will make the size limit between the two. what is it, 106 inches total? so the w/l/h of one bag plus the w/l/h of the other bag cannot exceed 106. i.e. isf one pack is 32 x 13x 12 and the other is 25x 14 x10 would work? i completely made those dimensions up so maybe they're in really odd shapes :-) all this limit talking makes me nervous.
sigh, its one of those nights where i feel tired but i know if i lay down i will not fall asleep.

    freaking out
I feel like freaking out could really be the title of all of my entries, I feel like my heart rate increases each day I get closer and closer to departure. I feel a bit freaked out because I don't even feel like I have time to read about kenya or hiv/aids prep work or anything that I wouold like to have time to do. I still have to finish working here, move around all of my stuff across states when I don't have a car, visit family in cleveland and california (i'm in mass) and then pack, etc. But, let's say I did have the time to get some reading done. I don't even know what to read, what is good to read before I go off to live in Kenya for 2 years? I have traveled as far as Niagra Falls in Canada for a two day vacation so I really feel like I could use osme prep. ah.

    my invite
So this past Monday I got my invite for Kenya leaving May 23rd. I'm the most excited and nervous I have ever been! I've basically been at work this entire week so this is the first time I've really been able to let it sink in. I've been running around like a crazy trying to do all the paperwork now and figuring out my life in 4 weeks so I can go live in KENYA for 2.3 years! I'll post more when I have some time. Right now I'm working on my aspiration statement and resume to send to the country desk unit for Kenya so they can get to know me a bit :-) What can anyone tell me about kenya? Anything people!

    so it begins
So I have been suckered into the world of live journals. I'm one of the hopeful future peace corps volunteers about to begin her adventure somewhere in Africa *fingers crossed*. Hopefully I will know any day where and when I am leaving and I can use this journal as a way to post about my experience and get some lovin' back from all of you!
